About CFM
Mozambique Ports and Railways (CFM; Portos e Caminhos de Ferro de Moçambique (Portugese)) is a legally constituted State-owned Company with the responsibility to operate in the area of the transport industry, the Ports and Railways Sector, and to ensure the satisfaction of the needs of the populations in terms of mobility and movement, thus contributing towards the stabilisation and the improvement of the Country’s balance of payments in addition to functioning as a promoter of employment [1].

Summary of Project
CFM has received a loan of USD 95 million from Export-Import Bank of India (Exim Bank) under GOI supported line of Credit for procurement of railway rolling stock including locomotive, passenger coaches and wagons in Mozambique and the part of loan will be applied to eligible payment under contract of Supply of ninety (90) passenger coaches and maintenance of the same for a period of 5 years. Exim bank have published EOI for the same and various interested rolling stock manufacturers/exporters participated in EOI such as BHEL, RITES etc. Exim bank based on their pre qualification criteria declared RITES pre qualified for Passenger coaches including DEMU and 06 Locomotives. Further Exim Bank invites bids from prequalified bidders on behalf of CFM and RITES in consultation with MCF, Raebareli (for Passenger Coaches and DEMU) and BLW, Varanasi(for Locomotives) has submitted the bid and finally on 22.05.2020 CFM issued LOA to RITES and contract was signed on 11.06.2020. The government of India (GoI) extended the line of credit (LoC) to the Government of Mozambique. The credit is planned to be utilized for the procurement of six 3000 HP diesel-electric locomotives and 90 (60 loco-hauled coaches and 30 DEMU coaches) coaches with maintenance support for five years.[2] RITES (a PSU of the Ministry of Railways) has been given the responsibility for the supply. For locomotives and coaches RITES has roped in Banaras Locomotive Works (Varanasi, UP) and Modern Coach Factory (Raebareli, UP), respectively.

MCF is going to execute its first export order to Mozambique Railways through RITES (the nominated agency for dealing export orders on behalf of IR). In this connection Representatives of Mozambique Railway Mr. M.J.Matabel, Chairman/CFM Board along with its other members visited MCF on 06.03.2019 and inspected the capabilities and facilities at MCF.
This export order consists of Cape Gauge (1067mm) coaches - 60 loco hauled and 30 DEMU coaches (05 rakes). The detailed breakup of variants is as under:

Production Schedule
Loco Hauled coaches:

Two rakes (12 Coach each) reached mozambique and under commissioning by MCF team.

3rd rake expected to be dispatched in April'2022
DEMU:

First rake ( composition DPC-TC-TC-TC-TC-DTC) reached mozambique and is expected to be commissioned in May'2022
The shell design of above variants is on LHB platform and bogie of Loco hauled coaches is on FIAT platform while DEMU bogie is of ICF type.
First Class AC 2 Tier Painted Shell at MCF
The Major features of Loco Hauled Coaches (60 nos.) are as under:

In these coaches there are no longitudinal side berths instead they are having coupe just like IR First AC Coaches.

Insulation: Bonded Rockwool Slab Insulation to IS:8183.

Flooring: 16mm Makore Board (as per MDTS-075 Rev-03) with 2mm PVC as per RDSO/2006/CG-12.

Paneling & Ceiling: FRP

Partitions: Honeycomb

Seats and Berths: Cushion shall be PU Foam (as per RDSO/2007/CG-04) covered with Fire barrier cloth (as per MMDTS 19021 Rev-02) with superior quality upholstery or artificial leather as per RDSO/2008/CG-07.(Colour shade as per requirement of CFM)

Windows: Shall be sealed window glass for AC coaches and Vertically sliding window for Non-AC Coaches and emergency windows @ 4 Nos. per coach is being provided.

Doors: Entrance Doors shall be hinged type, Sliding type vestibule doors lockable in both open and closed position, body side double sliding doors in luggage van.

Lavatory: FRP Modular lavatory equipped with mirror, water tap, hand rail, towel hanger, coat hooks, washbasin etc.

Water tanks:

For AC (2 U/Slung 660 Liters water tank), 16 Litre overhead water tank, 450 Litre U/slung water tank in power car.

For Non AC: Overhead water tank of 390 Litres per lavatory
11. Curtain in all AC coaches
12. Luminaires and Lighting: BRL and suitable LED Lightings
13. PA/PIS: Suitable and proven public address system throughout train and piped music to all coaches.
14. Fire Safety: DCP type fire extinguisher, Automatic Smoke/Fire detection with alarm system in AC Coaches and Automatic fire detection cum suppression system in power car
